Don’t Blow Your CAGS

Just read an article in Corvette Magazine about a guy that owned a 2004 Corvette.  He installed the CAGS skip shift kit, you know the one that stops the computer from forcing the six speed transmission to shift from first to fourth gear “when you’re not in a performance mode”.

The guy lived on a dirt road that required him to drive in first gear for about ten minutes before getting to pavement.

He first noticed that his check engine light came on, and he later determined that he had burnt out the resistor in the CAGS harness plug.

The resistor in the CAGS skip shift harness is not designed for long term driving in first gear.  So if you are in a similar situation, shift into second gear, the Corvette engine has enough torque to keep you going at a slow pace.
